The cost of producing eggs and chickens has risen in Bangladesh as raw material prices rise in international markets, the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) said today.

BPICC chairman Moshiur Rahman said egg and chicken production had declined due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“However, the cost of production has increased due to higher prices for raw materials in the international market.”

He spoke during a discussion on the role of the media in raising awareness of animal proteins. The BPICC organized the event in association with the US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) at a hotel in Dhaka, a press release said.

Khaleda Islam, Professor of Nutrition and Food Science at Dhaka University, said, “There are various misconceptions about poultry eggs and chicken meat that are hindering increased intake. in animal protein.

She said that although every adult person needs to consume one gram of protein per kilogram of body weight, most Bangladeshis are consuming less.

“People suffer from various diseases due to protein deficiency, and in our country the infant mortality rate up to one year is high for the same reason.”

Teenage boys and girls and pregnant women should consume more protein, Professor Islam added.

Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, editor-in-chief of TV Today, said it would take a long time to change the eating habits of the people of Bangladesh.
