Pollination by bees contributes to 70% of the world’s crops

Vistatec, the global content solutions company, has partnered with DCs for Bees (a Host in Ireland sub-initiative) to identify the need to plant more trees, helping to save the dwindling bee population.

DUBLIN, Ireland (PRWEB) 01 March 2022

Bees are critically endangered, but they play an essential role in pollinating our crops. They are an indicator of biodiversity, and once a species becomes extinct, the balance of nature is forever affected.

Members of the Vistatec organization have designated locations that they believe would benefit from orchards allowing them to grow and prosper over time while helping to reverse the problem of declining bee populations.

Working closely with ecologists at the National Biodiversity Data Center, DCs for Bees has created an industry-specific program specifically designed to bring about long-lasting, lasting change.

Pollinators are essential for our farmers who grow pollinator-dependent crops, for our gardeners who want to grow their fruits and vegetables, and for the health of our environment.

An example of selected locations include:

Carysfort National School, Arklow, County Wicklow: Year 5 pupils at the school, who have a keen interest in biodiversity, will plant and care for the trees as part of a wider school initiative focusing on the environment . The school was nominated by Carmel Kinsella, senior project manager at Vistatec.

Griffith Barracks Multi-Faith School: The school was named by Annamaria Leone, Senior Language Quality Specialist at Vistatec. The school is very focused on developing its students’ understanding and passion in all areas of sustainability. He introduced a school garden to enable students to hone their skills in garden maintenance and growing a variety of plants and trees. The school is located in an urban area that has seen a reduction in green space in recent years.

“We are delighted to be involved in the planting of the orchard, and it is encouraging to see the work that the CDs for Bees and Host in Ireland have contributed to this important initiative. Vistatec is particularly proud to be involved this year, which coincides with our 25th anniversary,” commented Simon Hodgkins, CMO, Vistatec.

DCs for Bees is an industry initiative to help save the declining bee population. This initiative offers businesses the opportunity to make an individual difference and the tools to educate, advocate, raise awareness and take action.

Speaking at today’s announcement, Tom Murray, CEO of Vistatec, said, “Vistatec is committed to ensuring that we conduct our business in the most sustainable way possible, contributing positively to environments we operate in. Our broader CSR program will see Vistatec continue to empower our people to give back and engage in the important area of sustainability.”

Every year, Vistatec participates in global corporate social responsibility activities and works closely with several charities locally and globally. Vistatec employees around the world are encouraged to participate and are incredibly proud to be involved in this crucial area.
