Apple picking season has arrived! Six Picks Orchards in Newport County and Beyond

Apple picking season has officially arrived and according to local growers the harvest looks strong this year. And a great weekend ahead means it’s time to get out there and support local businesses. Check with your favorite orchard for hours and availability.

Sweet berry farm in Middletown is getting busier on weekends. A favorite on the island, they have apples, pumpkins and peaches ready to be picked. Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., 915 Mitchell’s Lane, Middletown. Details here.

Rocky Brook Orchards in Middletown offers over 80 varieties of apples – who knew there were so many! Plus Pears and Quinces – Open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 997 Wapping Road Details here.

The apples are ready to be picked and the farm at Young Family Farm in Little Compton is open with pumpkins and over 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this weekend. 260 West Main Rd., Little Compton. Details here.

Orchard at sunset in Scituate has been harvesting apples since 1910. There is cider, peaches, pumpkins and more every day from 10am to 6pm. 244 Gleaner Chapel Rd., North Scituate. Details here.

PIppin’s orchard in Cranston has several acres and a dozen varieties of apples and more conveniently available at the farm stand at 751 Pippin Orchard Road in Cranston. Don’t miss their apple cider donuts! Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Details here.
